I'm Back! and I have Probability pictures!

Well, I'm back! This has been my first back to school season being a mom and I am proud to say that I pulled through! I am exhausted. I don't know how teachers with more than one kid do it. Anyway, I never got around to showing all the classroom pictures I took before school even begun (I'll do that later). But I did want to share the probability unit that we just finished. Yes, we just took our second math unit test. That's how late I am.

I love teaching probability and I usually do centers. I'm typically scrambling trying to pull things together at the last minute. So this year, I decided to be proactive and use my super cute clip art that I just bought from Melonheadz to create an entire probability center set. It took me a while but it definitely paid off! My students loved this and I love how it helped me with teaching the unit.

Below are some pictures showing the centers that I put together and my students hard at work. To see more of this set, you can visit my store.

Here is a closer look at some of the centers:

I promise I won't be gone too long this time (although I did say that last time). I have a ton more cool things to share, including those classroom pictures that I never got around to. I'm also working on an animal adaptations unit, and I just tried my first ever close reading (thanks to the 24 seven teacher freebie).

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!

Multiplication Game Cards Finished!

Earlier this week I posted about my "aha" moment when  I realized that instead of using a lot of class time to teach a variety of math games for math workshop, I could just have the students play the same game and change out the content. To read the original post and download a freebie of some game cards click here.

I have finally finished the entire set of Multiplication game cards! 52 question cards, 2 game boards, kid-friendly directions, ideas for use, and an answer key! You can download from here (TpT) or here (Teacher's Notebook).

I would love to hear ideas you may have for other game card sets.

-Also-

Unless Teaching is now on facebook! I tend to avoid facebook, I haven't been on in months, because it drives me crazy reading update after update of the most miniscule details of people's daily life. However, I realized that facebook is EVERYWHERE and would be a great place to both get my information out there and learn more about what other people are doing. That being said, don't be shy! Click on over and like my facebook page! I am still trying to find and follow different blogs on facebook, so if you like me I will head over and return the favor.

-On a Side Note-

My church service was awesome today! It is important to remember that Easter isn't about a bunny hiding eggs full of treats. While that is a fun tradition, we have to remember that Easter is the time we celebrate Jesus and how he sacrificially gave his life for us. I hope you have a wonderful Easter and be blessed!

Multiplication Game FREEBIE

I have been using a math workshop model in my class for a while now and you could not get me to go back! I love being able to work with students in small groups while the other children are busy and engaged at other learning centers. One of the biggest struggles for me was planning for math workshop. Finding enough games for all the different units was easy at first, but became more of a challenge as time went by. For each game I needed to introduce it whole group, model how to play it, and then observe and help the students as they played it the first couple of times. This ended up taking a lot of time for each game.

Then I had a light bulb idea, keep the game the same and switch out the content!

I brought in some old board games from home and ones that I purchased for $2.00 a piece at the thrift store (Candy Land, Monopoly, etc.) and got busy teaching my students a new game. All the students need to play is the board, player pieces, and dice (everything else I removed from the box so the kiddos wouldn't be tempted). The students simply roll the dice, answer a game card question, and advance if they get it right.

The students LOVE using the game boards to play with the math game cards I have created. We have found many other fun ways to use the cards as well, but this is by far the favorite. Below I attached 8 multiplication game cards FREE for you to download. I will be uploading more to my TpT and Teacher's Notebook stores soon.
