NEW Name, NEW Look - Goodbye Wiggins World

That's right! I am officially renaming my blog and bidding farewell to the title "Wiggins World". While I loved this title (both becuase it is my name and it is the name that I grew my blog with) I have been thinking about changing it for a while now. I wanted my blog name to represent more than just me. I wanted a name that sums up my passion for teaching and draws other teachers with the same passion. I have been turning this over in my mind for the last couple of weeks and then it finally hit me last week while reading The Lorax to my students. When we got to the end I realized how powerful the meaning of "Unless" was for the Once-ler and the boy. My students also picked up on this importance and many of them wrote about how they would help make the difference for our community, taking on the "unless" role. I realized that teaching is not just a job, but an "unless" profession. Unless we, as teachers, care immensely, nothing will get better. The educational system won't get better, our schools won't get better, administrators won't get better, colleagues won't get better, parents won't get better, and most important of all, students won't get better.

That being said, I hope you like the new name and that I didn't confuse you by switching my title. Please continue to visit my blog and join me on my quest to be an "unless" teacher who cares "a whole awful lot" and makes a difference in the lives of every student I come across.

I love the new name. My blog reflects my philosophy too...that before you reach their heads you have to touch their hearts. I would love for you to come read some of my teacher inspirational posts.

I recently shared about how we are teaching more than a test or curriculum because we are teaching a child and their heart. I try and encourage other teachers to realize that God put each one of our kiddos in our classroom for a reason and we can be the ones to show them about His love.
